A Harsh Look at Middle-Aged Dating
Filed in archive by Kathryn Vercillo on September 28, 2007

Earlier this month, Michael Laws wrote an article which took a really harsh look at the world of middle-aged dating. In his view, the dating playground for people in middle age is a vast wasteland. He sees Internet dating as the only viable option for people of this age, and he doesn't think it's a very good option at that.
Take a look at this quote in which he defines Internet dating as:
"a swingers club for the technically literate, but a desperate diversion for the less so. Sure, there are a few long- term relationships that eventuated from a fling ... but they are few and far between. That said, they represent the only sane attempt for the middle- aged to ever meet anyone."Is this true? Is "the only sane attempt" so unpleasant that middle aged daters are shying away from dating and going the asexual route as Laws suggests? There are surely middle-aged dating success stories out there (see the books by Cissy Wechter and Pepper Schwartz for examples). Let's prove it to Laws by sharing them here! Comments definitely welcome!
