A New Dating Network

Many people feel the best way to meet people is by an introduction through their friends. But what about their extended network? What if you had access to everyone they knew, and could introduce yourself much the same way that you do online?
That's the question behind Sparkbliss, a networking site for the dating world. The site compares itself to the business networking site LinkedIn, and claims that "evidence suggests your social network is the key to bringing together individuals of similar interests, background, and value."
While I think this is a good idea in theory, I also maintain that if a friend or associate wanted to set you up with another single they would just do it. Nor do I believe that online dating is full of dishonesty and "completely plagiarized" profiles, as Joel Blatt, the founder of Sparkbliss, declares.
Blatt even went so far as to say photos on Internet profiles are "often swiped from modeling agency sites." Please. I went out with sixty different guys when I did Internet dating and NOT ONE OF THEM had a photograph that was anything other than theirs.
Sparkbliss is a good idea and will probably do well. But they should lay off the ridiculous statements about online dating if they really want singles to buy into their idea.
