Appreciate the Differences

So what are you looking for in a relationship… someone just like you or someone who is the complete opposite. There's no right answer of course, but who you choose will have a major impact on your dating life for years to come.

Go with someone just like you and your day to day existence will likely be smooth and easy. You'll think alike and act alike and therefore have few disagreements. However, how much will you really grow when you're challenged so little by your partner.

The other way to go is to choose someone who rounds out your skills and personality. Sure you'll have disagreements here and there. But you'll also get exposed to new and interesting ways of thinking. Isn't that what life is all about???

No one can tell you who to go out with, its just got to be someone that makes you happy!

I agree that differences can make a relationship more exciting but there is something else to keep in mind. If you intend on a long term relationship, try to focus on someone who has the same view of long term relationships as you do.

Ex. If you are looking for marriage and she is still in the party girl phase of her life, long term you would do well to look in another direction.

Look for someone who has the same views of children, as well.

If you want one child and she wants three this will become an issue.

And finally the number one thing that couples argue about is money. Try to find someone who has similar views as far as spending, saving and investing.

If you work hard to bring in that paycheck and she spends it just as quickly neither of you is going to be happy long term.
