Beware of Joint Email Accounts
As your relationship begins to get serious, you'll find yourself merging different areas of your life with your partner's. You'll share closet space, you'll start talking about joint checking accounts, and you might decide that a joint email account is in order. But think ahead. Not to be a Negative Nancy, but a lot of relationships don't work out. Do you really want to be left reading emails from your ex's new online dating account after you've split up?

It sounds a little bit absurd, right? After all, you could just open your own free account after the split. But not all people are doing that. In her article, 'Til Tech Do Us Part, Ellen Gamerman mentions a Detroit couple who had an amicable break-up and still use their shared email account although the woman in the relationship remarked on how odd it is when her ex comments on her potential dates. Gamerman also touches on other tech issues that you might want to think about before you get too wrapped up in the life of your lover. Common sense and a little bit of caution are good things to use in these cases.
