Buying a Home

Here's something singles may not have thought about: buying property.
Sure, the economy stinks right now, but one expert says it's a great time for singles especially. One source quotes Sid Davis, author of The First-Time Homeowner's Survival Guide, as saying, "The earlier you buy, the earlier you'll build equity. If you buy at age 25, you could easily own this or another house free and clear by age 55."
Now, do you buy a home alone or with someone you're dating? I know a few singles who "talk about" marriage with their partner but it doesn't mean they should buy property together. Until you know exactly where you stand in a relationship, don't put your financial future in jeopardy. You also shouldn't let a lack of knowing "where you are" in a relationship prevent you from buying real estate. Just be sure you keep the property in your name until you know where your relationship is going.
