I've been thinking for awhile that I should write a post about Craig's List and whether or not it's a good place to find dates. I'm finally motivated to do so now that there is another classified ad site, FindItt.com, which has added dating to the list of things that you can find through ads. The reason that I've held off for so long is that I happen to love Craig's List but I'm one of the few people that I know who thinks it's a good place for a gal to find a date.



Finding a date through the classifieds has been around for a long time. I remember being 15 and poring through the newspaper for my first car and a new job only to stumble regularly across the people who were looking for love. When classifieds went online, it made sense that personal ads would as well. But now that there are so many sites that are specifically for people who want to date, does it make sense to go onto a general classified ad site where you can not only find dates but also cars, homes and jobs?



For me, that's what made the most sense. Craig's List is simple. You write what you want and post it clearly without having to go through the process of setting up extensive profiles. You can post for your date at the same time that you can browse for creative gigs in your area or look for a new volunteer opportunity. And I think that if you screen your responses, Craig's List is just as safe as any other site for online dating.
