Day-Off-Work Date Ideas for Labor Day

Monday, 3. September 2007 - 8:03 am

It's Labor Day which means that many of you who normally work on Mondays can delay those Monday blues until tomorrow. If you don't already know what you're going to do with your day off, maybe you should take a risk and see if one of those people you've been toying with online is available to meet in person today.

Here are some day-off-of-work date ideas that you could suggest:

• A matinee movie. They're a discounted rate so you're not investing a lot and the theater is one place that you know for sure will be open on a holiday. Plus you can avoid talking too much if you feel awkward meeting someone new.

• Photo expedition. Make plans to meet up and take pictures in a certain neighborhood, capturing the images of summer ending and fall beginning. Who knows; these could be the images you two are poring over years from now as you recollect that first date!

• Get outside. Hiking, picnicking and other outdoor activities are great for a first date. And they're safer on a holiday because a lot of other people will be out enjoying them as well.

• Something child-like. Labor Day brings along with it memories of that first day off from school (or of school about to start for some folks). Celebrate it by doing something you would've done on summer vacation as a kid. Roller skating rinks, amusement parks and arcades all fall into this category.

• Parades and parties. There are lots of things going on around you in celebration of this day off. Look at your local paper or calendar listings and check out an event where there are likely to be other singles.

Those are really cool dating suggestions. I especially like the idea of taking photos. What a great way to share your hobby with someone else and the pictures will remind you of the date every time you look at them.
