Television isn't the big deal that it used to be. When I think about TV service packages these days, I ask myself a couple of questions… What sports will I be able to watch? What news channels will be available? Will I have the Weather Channel? Will I have the History Channel?

Then I ask two last questions. What sort of Internet connection will it provide? And what will it cost?

Evaluating things like direct TV packages really comes down to those basic questions. When I talk to a potential date, their TV provider and package tells me something about our compatibility as a couple.

The lines between TV and Internet have become more and more blurry. People who used to sit up until eleven at might now watch their favorite shows on demand at TNT's web page or on Hulu. Cable and Satellite TV packages simply have to offer good broadband Internet access as well as affordable, personalized program packages.

The consumer has far more control over what he sees on TV today.
