Bonny Albo over at About.com's dating site asked a interesting question recently about the impact of social networking tools. The question: Does Facebook create jealous people?
Facebook's popularity is growing by leaps and bounds. It is suddenly the tool de jour for social networking, expanding rapidly in a way that blurs private, social, and professional spheres of life. Bonny sees it as a chicken-and-egg question. Which came first: Facebook or jealousy? According to Bonny, "a recently released Canadian study found that the more time users spent perusing Facebook, the more jealous they were."
Was jealousy a problem before to people came to Facebook? It's a question we may soon be unable to investigate. If the current trend keeps up, it may become difficult to find adults in the US to study who don't already have a Facebook account...
