Don't Rely on Santa for a Christmas Date
Filed in archive by Kathryn Vercillo on December 10, 2007

Christmas is only two weeks away. Do you have a date for the office functions, parties or holiday weekends yet? If not, you should probably start getting more active on your online dating sites. And maybe you should get a little bit less picky. Show some Christmas spirit and accept a date invite from someone that you might not normally think twice about. Or better yet, seek out someone that hadn't caught your eye before and put yourself out there by initiating online conversation.
Dating in December is different than dating during the rest of the year. During most months, you have enough time to invest yourself in dating for the purpose of finding a relationship. December is just too hectic for that business. But that doesn't mean that December isn't a good month for dating. It's a great month for doing some casual dating for the pure sake of having some good dates.
Remember to be honest about your intentions. If you're just looking for someone to cuddle with during the cold months of winter, say so. If all you want is to make sure that you are showing up solo at the one party that you couldn't get out of, admit it. You can have a Christmas date that meets your needs if you're willing to say what they are. You also have to be willing to try out some dates that don't meet all of your normal height/weight/eye color/religious faith/ music preferences criteria.
When doing December dating in this way, you don't have to think about where the relationship is going. You can agree with yourself that this is going to be a fun December experiment and you can worry about whether or not it's "going anywhere" when the new year has begun. Give yourself permission to have a little bit of fun this holiday season. You simply don't have to take yourself as seriously as you usually do!
