It's hard to be single sometimes. (Heck, it's hard to be single a lot of times.)
Oh, I know what you're saying, and you're right: Being single is most of the time an okay thing. But it doesn't mean you want to stay that way forever.
There's nothing wrong with the guys and gals that want to remain forever unattached. But most folks I know want to find someone someday. Even if they don't want to get married, they still want to be part of a couple.
The problem is sometimes singles settle. They just plain give up on trying to find the right person, and instead hook up with someone not exactly right. And that's always a recipe for trouble.
Believe me, I know how hard it is to remain single and hold out for a great relationship instead of one that's just so-so. Sometimes you may even think you're being silly (or too picky). You probably have gone out with lots of great people and think any one of them would have been okay for your to marry. But you'd be wrong.
I caught this post recently about Gerard Butler and how he wants to settle down but he's not sure. Part of it is that he hasn't met the right gal yet. The other part is that he's still having a good time being single. I think his attitude sums up the feeling a lot of singles have, including me.
But you know what? When you meet the right person, you never think about if it's the right time. Because meeting the right person tells you it's the right time. You may not be getting hitched tomorrow, but you know you want to settle down with this person because they are the one you've waited for.
Does it sound romantic and syrupy? Maybe, but it's true. Trust me. If you're feeling like you're lonely and just might want to hook up with that one guy or gal who is okay (but not perfect for you).... don't. Wait for the right one. It's worth it. Trust me.
