VentureBeat is not usually my primary source for dating news, but I saw this article today on breaking up on Facebook and just had to point it out...
The VentureBeat article takes a look at a survey by SNAP Interactive. That survey gathered data from a thousand participants. Some twenty-five percent of those surveyed said that they'd been dumped at least once "the lazy way" - they read about it on Facebook.
The experience is easy to understand. You come home from work. You turn on the your computer and pull up Facebook (which is blocked at work - so you haven't seen it now for eight or nine hours). And - what do you know! Your girlfriend or boyfriend has changed their relationship status on their profile, and now they're single.
