Finding your luck in a mixed race relationship

After spending the last two and half years in a mixed race relationship I feel that I need to express my feelings. If there is a valid reason why two people from different races and cultures should not be together I do not know it. Every relationship has problems but there is no problem in a mixed race relationship any bigger than in any other kind of relationship. I am a true believer that love can conquer all and that the issue of race is very small compared with the power of true love.

ashton kutcherlinks recently appeared in a movie alongside Bernie Mac that addressed the issue of mixed race relationships. In the movie Bernie Mac's daughter an African American woman is dating kutcher and the concept of the movie is accepting kutcher. By the end of the movie Ashton Kutcher has both been accepted but Mac sees what a special individual he is for his daughter.

I have the most wonderful relationship and it truly defines what is true and pure love. I am afraid that we live in a society that is not as accepting that it should be. When two people come from different races and different cultures but can learn to love each other that is a wonderful thing and should be celebrated. I think that the situation has become so bad that when I first got together with my girlfriend she questioned if I would like her because of the color of her skin. This statement shocked me, but is this a reality are we really prepared to limit ourself in this way.

Some people believe that there is only one person for each of us. If you are going to only date within your own race you could well never find your true soulmate. Most people have some idea in their mind what they are looking for in their perfect partner and I am sure skin color isn't one of them, yet many people still consider a mixed race relationship wrong. What makes someone your soulmate is not how they look but how they connect within themselves. I come from England and I traveled over 5,000 miles to the United States to find my soulmate and the fact that she is black never once crossed my mind.

What should be really important in a relationship is the way that person treats you and makes you feel. The movie I mentioned earlier which is called Guess Who addresses just that the director says "this movie is about race, but bigger than that this movie is about love."

If you are going to marry someone you do so because of the way that person makes you feel and the love that you have for that person. At the end of the day there is only one real race the human race and we are all more similar than some people may think and where there are differences that just makes it more exciting to be with that person. If I could make one point it would be this two people from different races and cultures can still love each other and they can still be the perfect person for each other remember opposites attract.
