First Date Issues

Yesterday we took a look at the fact that first dates have changed a lot over the years. A long time ago, a First man would pick you up at the house, present you with flowers and then take you out to your destination. With online dating, that's just not smart or reasonable. And when getting picked up went away, getting flowers went with it.

But that's not the only thing that has changed about first dates over the years. Here are some of the other changes that we've seen take place:

- First date sex. Let's face it; a lot of people do it these days and there was a time when that just didn't happen.

- Shorter first dates. You don't normally do dinner and a movie now. You grab lunch or meet at a coffee shop. This is particularly true if it's an online date where you want to be able to move on fast if the compatibility just isn't there.

- Topics of conversation. Topics get a lot more personal a lot more quickly than they used to, especially if you've already been discussing them online.

First dates are different than they used to be but some of those changes have been good. I still think that we could bring those flowers back though.

Question of the Day: In what other ways do you think first dates have changed?
