Who says love at first sight does not exist? Well, at first I didn't think it did, until it happened to me. After a two year relationship of mine had crumbled, I felt miserable and lonely. Feeling that I would never find the person that I would spend the rest of my life with unless I did something drastic, I decided to post a personals ad in POZ.com, a free on-line personals for people living with HIV. I thought maybe I could give it another shot in finding that Mr. Right. After all, I was still young (only 36) had a pleasant personality, great sense of humor and if I may say so myself, not a bad-looking guy. So I placed my own profile with hesitant. Within the second day of posting my profile, I began to receive responses from other HIV + single men. A few seemed to catch my interest and I did go out on a couple of dates. Unfortunately, none of them seemed to have anything in common with me. And even though a few of them were nice and all, the sparks were not there for me. At the point of giving up on this whole personals idea, I was about to delete my profile when I noticed I had another response which happened to catch my eye. The reason it caught my attention was because the profile had no photo posted. The fact there was no photo posted sent a sense of mystery to this respondent. He stated that his name was Brian and that he liked my profile. Along with his phone number, he said he hoped I lived in the Northampton County (for which I did) because he was only an hour and a half away from me. Being that I was checking my e mail at the local Public Library (for my computer at the time was having a hard time) I jotted down his phone number and slipped it into my jean's pocket, planning to call him later that evening. I was so excited for something deep inside me told me that this Brian was the right one for me. I can not explain exactly how I knew this but I just knew it. At around 9 pm that evening I dug into the back pocket of my jeans to retrieve his phone number when sadly I learned I'd lost the piece of paper. I was so upset. It was a Saturday night and the library was to be closed the following day. I went over to my sister's house a few days later to use her computer. Not only did I write the phone number down again, I decided to call him there and then, in front of my sister. Brian was at work and told me he would call me after seven. And that was exactly what he did. We spoke for about a whole hour. Even better, we made plans to meet the following day. I had a doctor's appointment and he offered to pick me up from there. I was so nervous that day. I was praying that my doctor would hurry up, so I could finally meet Brian in person. While I was in the process of my monthly check up, Brian called me on my cell phone to inform me he was downstairs waiting for me in the parking lot. My heart almost popped out of my chest. When I was done with the Doc, I hurried downstairs to the parking lot. As I headed there my cell phone rang. It was Brian. He told me he saw me approaching. I looked up and saw him standing by his car with his cell phone to his ear. Then and there, I knew I was in love. This is going to be the man I was going to spend the rest of my life with. Brian and I have been seeing each other ever since. We are planning to live with each other in the near future and begin our lives together as domestic partners. He is everything I wanted in a mate. He's kind, sincere, honest, devoted and loving. He's also a wonderful father to his teenage daughter and, of course, he's also extremely gorgeous. Thanks, Poz.com, for bringing Brian and I together.
