14 -- The 2006 internet dating convention on Thursday 2nd Feb and
Friday 3rd Feb will focus on improving profitability; conversion,
retention and new product offerings. Dr John Gray (Men Are From
Mars, Women Are From Venus) will be speaking on customer
retention. I will be giving a news roundup for 2005. Rob
Fisher of Great Expectations will be contrasting online and offline
business models. Attorney Peter McGreevy will be addressing
recent legal issues in the online dating industry and suggesting
methods of liability protection. Scott Butler (formerly of
MyFamily, TRUE) is back to give another fantastic 90 minute workshop on
customer acquisition and retention. I ran a Hotwire search for 4
star hotels at Miami Beach; three alternatives were available at $195,
$210 and $399. The Wyndham Miami Beach deal is competitive at $209. iDate2006
