We often think of long-distance dating as a difficult thing in terms of not seeing the one you love. But how often do you really calculate what a long-distance relationship will really cost you in dollars?

That's the question behind this article from Philly.com. I think you'd be surprised at the amounts people spend on airline flights and long-distance calls. Now, with the rising cost of fuel, people are beginning to rethink long-distance relationships.

It's not that long-distance relationships can't be successful. But there are a few things that have to happen in order to make sure they will work out to everyone's advantage. First of all, if the distance a temporary thing? If so, there's a good chance you and your partner will be able to make it through. But if the distance is permanent, you or your partner will need to make a change in order to make the relationship work. You can't very well date someone you don't see!
