Make a Date, Meet a Mate Online

Rick, a website developer from Columbus, Ohio, remembers his divorce nearly four years ago with an extra tinge of bitterness: His ex-wife remarried the same day to a man she met via the Internet.

I have never, ever tried online dating. My father, on the other hand, met his current wife on Match.com (or some equivalent).
Does online dating work? Sometimes, maybe. If I try it out, you'll be the first to know.

I’d say it works fairly well, at least in the medium-term — I’ve met two women, each of whom I dated for nearly a year, online — one from the now defunct sparkmatch.com and one here on LJ, which probably doesn’t count as internet dating. I’ve met a few people on nerve.com / portland mercury, but it rarely works out past the 3rd or 4th date.

Isn’t this the current wife who’s not all that kind and loving to her husband’s daughter?
Personally, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with meeting someone from the internet, and then seeing how things go from there. I don’t see how it’s any different from meeting someone at a concert, or a party. But when people have online “relationships”, and are convinced they’re in love with people they’ve never met, that’s what gets to me. There are so many things you can never know about a person until you meet them. Mannerisms and such. Texture of their skin. Little things that are infinitley important. I think meeting the person is really where a relationship begins.

Why not? It seems to be as good a way as any to find somebody with similar interests and values.

Meeting people online is a good way to meet somebody who you would have no chance of meeting outside of your social circle. But when it comes down to really getting to know a person is where it gets tricky. They can be great on instant message with a great picture but in real life they can completely suck. What the dating site needs to concentrate is the medium of communications that they can offer to their users. It抯 also hard to stand out from the millions of profiles that say the same thing about themselves and who are looking for same traits in people. Currently I抦 working on a new dating website that I hope will offer people a little bit more than just searching and sending instant messengers.
Currently in production of a new website coming out in September. Check it out and post a free profile and receive one-month free membership to test it out for yourself. Looking for people to send me comments and ideas and reviews as to what we can offer and how we can improve our services. Check out http://www.drdater.com and Stay tuned the updates and the development that we are about to go through within the upcoming year.

I was scammed by DrDater. Someone in im took my name and then created an account on DrDater with fake information. It wasn’t even my photo. Now I get spammed by losers from their site every hour. Stay away.

If you’re gonna date online, at least get a good photo.
