Making a List

What do you want in a man or woman? Looks? Income? Personality?

We all have a "list" of some sort. There are certain preferences that are different for each one of us. But are the things you desire in your perfect mate realistic? Are they all about physical or superficial qualities?

One post I read recently talked about a list that one woman made, and achieved everything she wanted on it. The trouble is, that list had things like how many kids she'd have and how much money she wanted her future husband to make, rather than things like what type of person he was.

After all, if I told you I had a guy for you that made X amount of money per year, owned his own yacht and was six feet tall, would you feel this was a good match? He might be, of course, except that you'd still have to get to know him. You'd still need to see that he was kind, had a great personality that matched yours, and brought out the very best in you.

It's fine to have an idea of what type of person you'd like to meet. But remember, when you think about your future mate, look for the innate qualities that are lasting. Those are the things that will determine if love is meant to last a lifetime.
