Moms Apply Online Dating Skills to Making Friends

There was an interesting article last week over at Fosters.com which took a look at a new trend that moms with online dating experience might be setting. It looked at how difficult it is for moms to make friends with other moms. And it compared the process of friend-finding to the process of trying to find a date online. It even showed how moms are going to online social networking sites to find friends in the same way that they once headed to online dating sites to find a partner.
It makes sense that moms are applying the skills needed for online dating to the world of making connections with other mothers. After all, the things that you need to do to meet great people are the same no matter what type of relationship you're seeking. Whether you want to find a partner to get cozy with or a woman that you might ask to carpool your kids, you're seeking someone that you can trust. This requires doing some basic searching for compatibility and asking a lot of questions to get to know the other person.
Of course, there are differences between finding friends and finding dates. We're more likely to forgive certain things in one type of person than the other. (For example, you probably won't care excessively if your new mommy friends go out one weekend a month and get wild with the girls but it might bother you if your new partner does the same.) But in terms of locating the right people to settle into your life with, the process is similar.
Question of the Day: Was it easier you to make friends or find a partner online?
