Are you part of the 92 million Americans who are single?? Then next week is your week to celebrate. September 21-27, 2008 is National Unmarried and Single Americans (USA) Week.
The week was started as a way to celebrate the contributions that single people make to the U.S. Too often single people are overlooked when it comes to voting and paying taxes.
Still, I think singles week should be more than just about politics or taxes. Being single means you're strong and independent. You are living your life to the fullest. You are not one of the many dolts who are in an unhappy marriage. You don't have to listen to a spouse on how to spend your money. You don't need to get permission to stay out late.
You're single because you choose to be. You're single not because you can't find the right person, but because the right person to share your life hasn't come around yet. And if they do, great. They can share your life. But your life is being lived now. It's not on hold.
Let the upcoming week show all those married folks that you're happy and content. Celebrate the fact that you're single!
