We've all dealt with bad online matches. Some of us have endured horrifically awful dates while others have simple had so many bad connections online that they've stopped meeting many people in person after all. It's easy to mope and complain about these things. But in the spirit of the upcoming holiday, here are some things that most of us can be thankful for when it comes to online dating:



o No one we love has seen our embarrassing pictures. You know, the ones that you took after that extra glass of wine when the guy you now know is creepy begged you to ... if your loved ones never saw them, be thankful.


o "That one time when ..." Yes, the dates were sometimes bad going through them but when you get a whole group laughing at a party with your now-humorous tale of "that one time when", you can be thankful.


o The options technology has opened up. Do you really want to be sitting at a bar every night trying to pick someone up? With online dating, you can sit in the comfort of your home, watching videos and surfing the Internet while you also find a potential life partner.


o The few good ones that you have met. Sure, maybe they didn't quite pan out. But can't you remember a few good nights out on the town? A time when you stayed online chatting until five in the morning because the random conversation was that good? A date who was better looking in person than the online profile picture? There were good times and good dates and you should be thankful.



Online dating is a fun and interesting experience. Yes, it has its bad times but for the most part, it's just another part of life. We can complain or we can just be thankful.
