Mark Brooks: I started a similar club in Silicon Valley in 1998 – ace-club.com. It's a singles club that won't admit to being a singles club. I found it was better for retention rates to not bill it as a singles club. UrbanDiversion.com and SFOAC.com also operate in the Bay Area and came to the same conclusion.

Mark from ACE Club… Is it true that you dumped your group because you couldn’t get enough members? I heard you went to FLA! I had fun for awhile in the Bay Area with ACE, then you left :(

Anyway, FunQuest is GREAT! I joined two months ago and it IS just for singles. I never found the married people very much fun and the couples did not want to mix with the singles. The cool thing with FunQuest is that they weed out the “creepy people” by interviewing you and doing a background check. I was never sure about some of the people that joined ACE. I have been kayaking, surfing and have liked their happy hours and especially the personal attention they give the newer members. It is hard to go to an event where you don’t know anyone. They were AWESOME! I now attend about 3 events each week!
