Are guys really happier without marriage?

When I hear this question I immediately think of the guy who thinks he doesn't need a woman, and how lonely he will be at the end of his life. But apparently, there are plenty of guys out there who are perfectly happy being a bachelor, at least according to this source.

In the article, they cite George Clooney as one guy that will never settle down and yet seems totally happy not having a significant other. In a quote from another guy, he says "Stay single and see her at the weekends. Man is not meant to be caged."

Caged! Eeeeesh.

While I'm all for people waiting until they are totally ready to get married (and if that means waiting until their 30s or 40s so be it), I really have a hard time believing that there are people who PREFER to be alone forever. Wouldn't that get boring sometimes? Isn't life sweeter when you share it with someone you love?

What's your thought?
