Spark Networks Up For Sale

Are you a member of one of the specialty sites owned by Spark Networks? This leading online dating business heads many different sites including much-used ones like JDate and lesser known ones like CollegeLuv.com. If you've got a profile up on any of them, you might like to know that the site could be changing in the near future.
That's because there's a rumor floating around that Spark Networks is up for sale. The company has not made an official announcement that it has plans to sell. However, the market seems to believe the rumor as stocks have changed since the media picked up the information.
So far, it looks like Spark Networks is discussing private sales with a number of big companies. Some of these companies (like eHarmony) are already in the online dating game. Others (like MySpace) are in the closely related business of social networking.
There's nothing to indicate yet that a sale is going to take place. Furthermore, there's nothing to suggest that the Spark Networks dating sites would change if they were purchased. But, if you do have a profile active on any of these sites, you might want to stay on top of the news to see what changes are going to be taking place.
Question of the Day: Would you stay active on a Spark site if it was sold to a big business?
