Know who gets the most attention at speed dating events? Good looking people.

This was something people who have done speed dating have suspected for a while, but now researchers have data to back it up.

According to one article, "Researchers studied 118 speed dating sessions with groups of between seven and 36 people. They were "surprised" to find as the size of the group grew, a small number of attractive individuals received all the offers. Less popular candidates ended up with few invitations or none at all."

The study went on to say that in smaller groups, people would look at other qualities such as intelligence and sense of humor, rather than attractiveness.

This isn't dating in general, mind you, but speed dating. In other words, when you only have a few minutes to see if you like someone, chances are you are going to go by looks. After all, you won't really have anything else to go by. All the more reason to get to know people a bit before you decide who to go out with!
