Tall, Dark and Handsome

We all know that women are supposed to be interested in finding a guy that's "tall, dark and handsome". There seems to be some leniency on the "dark" issue since many gals have an affection for California blondes. And handsome is obviously something that's subjective. But what about the "tall" issue? Do men that are short have a chance in the online dating world where height is one of the first things that you learn from a person's profile?

Height does still seem to matter a lot to women in the dating world who might be flexible on the "dark and handsome" part of the famous trio of desirable qualities. In general, women still prefer to date someone who is as tall or taller than they are. And it's not just tall women who are seeking height; even women hovering around five feet often look for men that are six feet or taller.

There's probably a combination of reasons that this remains true. The most dominant of them is probably that dating a shorter man goes against the status quo, something that's ingrained into you and reinforced by what you see around you. Whether you like it or not, you get the message that it's somehow wrong to be dating a guy that's not at least as tall as you are. And when you make your choices, that gets filtered into what you ultimately decide.
