A 21 year old student at University College London started a student dating site that has gotten over four million hits in its first month online, but now UCL officials have pulled the plug on it.
The site was called FitFinder. It used a combination of Twitter and classified ads to allow students to exchange messages, according to the Times Online. University officials have decided that the site is "a distraction."
UCL has about 22,000 students. A petition to reopen the dating site got a thousand signatures within just a couple of hours.
The site's founder, Rich Martell hopes he can take his model for a dating site and move it into a larger market beyond the coundaries of the university. He's evidently talking to investors.
