Would You Have Someone Else Write Your Profile?

As a writer, I regularly search for writing gigs on sites online. These are classified ad sites or job bid sites that are designed to offer writers professional writing jobs – everything from web content writing to e-book contracts. But increasingly, I see advertisements from people who are on singles dating sites and want to pay a professional writer to write their profiles for them.

Would you do this? Would you write someone else's profile or would you have someone write yours?

I don't bother to apply for these jobs myself. I think I could probably get the jobs but there's a level of dishonesty to the work that I don't want to be a part of. And as an online dater, I would never have someone else write my profile. I want the people I meet online to know me for who I am – typos, late night rants and all.

But I can see the appeal of it for a person who isn't confident in their own writing. Often, you have just a moment online to make an impression and you want to make the best one that you can. So is it really bad to have someone else craft a profile for you that says what you want to say … only better? If you don't want to go that route, you can put in the extra effort to improve your profile yourself.
